Indigenous Education Initiative
We are reaching out from the Rotary Club of Tulum, Mexico, to seek your support for our Indigenous Scholarship Initiative, which aims to expand university scholarship opportunities for Indigenous high school graduates.

Our Commitment to Education
Our club is dedicated to increasing access to higher education for students in Tulum and neighboring Mayan communities. We are building a scholarship fund to help more deserving students attend university.
Challenges Facing Local Students
Only 24% of high school graduates enroll in university, with just 8% completing their degrees. Financial hardship and lack of mentorship are major barriers. Our initiative eases these burdens by providing scholarships and ongoing support to help students finish their studies and start their careers.
Our Impact So Far
Since awarding our first scholarships five years ago, all three recipients have graduated. Currently, we support ten students majoring in various fields such as languages, accounting, architecture, hotel administration and nursing.
Scholarship Fund & Donations
Each student receives $4-5,000 USD per year, which helps but does not cover all expenses. This support includes tuition, food, and rent, especially for those studying away from home.

Meet some of our recipients
Gervasio Canul Dzib graduated with a degree in Tourism and languages. His Father is a farmer and his Mom embroiders dresses. He is now working at one of the largest recreation parks in Quintana Roo. He is grateful that he got a chance to get an education his parents could never have.
Joselyn Juarez Mateos is studying to be a nurse at Valladolid University she is from Tulum Quintana Roo.
Pedro uuh Nohis studying Arquitecture in the University of Valladolid. He also comes from Chanchen a town Tulum Rotary has adopted. His father is a farmer and his mother sells food in town.
Misael Chay Tun attends the Tulum University. His mother is an artisan making souvenirs for in Tulum. He is from Santa Rosa de Lima, Quintana Roo. He also works part time supporting his three other brothers.
